Now, let us put what you have learned into practice!
Open your favorite text editor, such as Notepad, Microsoft Word, LibreOffice Writer, or another application you prefer. Create a new document and give it a temporary title, such as *My First Online Book*. You do not need to open Drupal yet. At this stage, we are planning your book before creating it on the website.
Write down your answers to the following questions:
- What topic would you like to write about? Choose a subject that interests you or that you know something about.
- Why do you want to publish this book? Describe its main purpose in one or two sentences.
- What would you like your readers to learn or achieve? Think about the knowledge, skills, or information you want to share.
- What materials do you already have? For example, you might have notes, documents, photographs, articles, research, or personal experience that you can use.
- What could you add to the book later? Consider additional chapters, examples, illustrations, or new information that might improve it.
Do not worry about writing perfect answers. These are your initial ideas, and you can revise them as your book develops. If you are not sure what to write about, choose a small topic that you can explain clearly and expand later.
Save your document. You will return to it in the next sections as you identify your readers, define the scope of your book, plan its chapters and sections, and prepare an outline.
Your first task is complete when you have a topic, a purpose, and a few initial ideas written down.
You have taken the first step toward creating your own online book!
